Honey bee geneticist Robert E. Page Jr., emeritus professor and former chair man of the Department of Entomology, UCD, is a newly elected member of the oldest scientific academy of science, the Germany Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
German scientists believe that honey bees could be used to protect crops from pests such as caterpillars, a finding that could eliminate the necessity for potentially harmful insecticides.
